150 Neurons/Nuclei and Counting.

Now I’ve reached 150 Neurons/Nuclei in the list, I thought it’s time for a quick update:
As work on the list has progressed, I have had to make a few compromises, mainly because we simply don’t know much detail about many of the structures of the brain. We know where the nuclei receive inputs from and where they send projections to, but seemingly nothing about the cells within some of the nuclei. For example the Ventral Nucleus of the Lateral Lemniscus (VNLL) has been shown to have neurons with different properties in the ventral and dorsal regions of the nucleus (Caspari, 2015), suggesting different types of neurons in the VNLL, but it’s not clear if this relates to differences in input, output or function.
For now, I will have to be content with the major inputs and outputs of the nuclei as I find them, filling in the blanks when Information becomes available. So, over the coming weeks I will continue adding to the list and start producing a map of the auditory pathways.
